The Final Set; A Tribute To A Great Man

Last March 08, 2009, the grounds of the SM Mall of Asia was filled with the loud cheers of no less than 100,000 people as the The Final Set of the Eraserheads- the Beatles of the Philippines finally kicks off.

This is the said highly anticipated sequel of the unfinished reunion concert of the Eraserheads last year when their lead vocalist Ely Buendia was rushed to the hospital because of a sudden attack of a heart disease. But being more than just a sequel, The Final Set was agreed by both of the artists and their manager Diane Ventura to be a tribute for the late King of Philippine Rap- Francis “Kiko” Magalona who just passed away last March 04, 2009 because of leukemia. Eraserheads dedicated their collaboration song Super Proxy with the king of rap himself to Kiko. Thus, the The Final Set, having the catch phrase “we have over 10 million fans but only 100,000 will be able to see us perform” was more than just a mere performance of the acclaimed Beatles of the Philippines but as well was a tribute for a great man who have touched and influenced a lot of lives. The night of March 08, 2009 was indeed a night filled with 27 songs, each song sang with paying respect to the farewell of our own king of rap- Francis “Kiko” Magalona.
